  • Jon Hopkins has announced a brief North American tour for late August. The English artist is fresh off the release of the RA Recommended Immunity. The album sees him move closer than ever to techno, described by Tom Banham in our review as "an intricate mesh of thumping drums, stunning sound design and gorgeous melodies." He's been touring his live set quite steadily since then, and he'll make his latest trip over the Atlantic in August for a quick five-date run. First up he'll play two shows at LA's Fonda Theatre with Montreal duo Purity Ring on August 27th and 28th. After a day off he'll hit Mexico City's AM Local on the 30th, and then on the 31st he has two gigs in NYC—one in the afternoon for MoMA PS1's Warm Up series (with Cajmere and Lil Silva), and one in the evening for Verboten. Most recently, Hopkins remixed Purity Ring's "Amenany," which you can stream here or below (member Megan James also reportedly recorded vocals for Immunity track "Breathe This Air," due to be released later on in the year). You can also watch the video for that album's first single, "Open Eye Signal," here.
