- The Canadian singer's first LP, produced by Jeremy Greenspan of Junior Boys, will drop in September.
Hyperdub will release Jessy Lanza's debut album on September 9th.
The classically-trained Canadian singer and songwriter shares her hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, with Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan, who co-wrote and co-produced this first release. Reportedly influenced by "R&B, house, disco and 80s studio rock," Pull My Hair Back shares some sonic similarities with Greenspan's popular synth pop duo—particularly in its minimalistic sound design, using mostly vintage synths and drum machines—but the album is dominated by Lanza's voice.
The label has offered up a video for first single "Kathy Lee," shot in Hamilton, which you can watch here or below. Though this is Lanza's first release on Kode9's label, it's not the first time Greenspan has worked with the UK trailblazer—the Hyperdub boss remixed Junior Boys' "Double Shadow" back in 2007.
