  • Manitoba Electronic Music Exhibition will take place in Winnipeg from August 15th through 18th. Now in its fourth year, the festival (also called Memetic) takes over the Manitoba capital for a weekend. The majority of the music happens inside The Cube, a custom-made audiovisual outdoor venue in the city's Exchange District. Other spaces, like the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Pantages Theatre, will host "after cube" parties that go late into the night as well as some events on the festival's opening night—though specific lineup information for those has yet to be announced. All the stages and shows will also feature a healthy visual component. MEME will play host to full-day workshops for aspiring artists and producers at Manitoba Music each day. This year, MEME has booked more international headliners than ever before. Largely focusing on techno and house, highlights include Glaswegian Funk D'Void, Berlin's Daniel Steinberg, Australian producer Deepchild, Thoughtless head Noah Pred and Sid LeRock. Canadian artists will have quite a presence at the festival as well: Toronto's My Favorite Robot, BC's Librarian, Max Ulis and Longwalkshortdock, plus Banff's Cain.1 are among some of the bigger names. A grip of DJs from the Prairie region are also set to take part. New Zealand duo Truth represent one of the few dubstep acts announced so far.
