- The Hyperdub regular will return with her second album in July.
Ikonika will release her second album, Aerotropolis, on Hyperdub on July 29th.
The LP will arrive three years on from the London-based artist's debut full-length, Contact, Love, Want, Have, a colourful assortment of 8-bit melodies and crunchy 140 BPM beats. After a productive 2010, she's kept a pretty low profile, releasing just a single full EP since: I Make Lists, which came out last year on her own Hum + Buzz imprint. It was a period of quiet she put down to a shift in her music tastes and production process, as revealed in our recent Machine Love feature.
Aerotropolis features a couple of collaborations, with Jessy Lanza and Hum + Buzz co-chief Optimum appearing on "Beach Mode (Keep It Simple)" and "Mega Church" respectively. Speaking to FACT, Ikonika said Aerotropolis was about "height, getting high and become distant [and] finding escape routes and fantasying about moving to the offshore colonies." You can listen to the album's lead single "Beach Mode (Keep It Simple)" over at FACT too.
