  • Bass Coast has announced the details for its 2013 edition, taking place in BC from August 2nd through 5th. 2013 marks the festival’s fourth year, and also its biggest change: it'll move from its former home in the Squamish Valley to a larger site in the Nicola Valley, near Merritt. Organisers say the new spot promises more stable weather, easier drive-up access, and more space (particularly for camping) than the Squamish setup. This time around, Bass Coast has three stages, and also offers a free riverfront first-come first-serve camping area in addition to the paid campsites. The capacity will remain capped at 4000 people to maintain the festival’s self-proclaimed “intimate” vibe. The lineup is, as ever, focused on bass-heavy music of all kinds: Japanese dubstep artist Goth-Trad will headline, along with UK veteran Om Unit, sets from Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum (plus a set together as JETS), and low-end-loving Dirtybird DJ Justin Martin. UK trio Dark Sky will also play, plus Portland-based singer and producer Natasha Kmeto, Toronto Turbo signee Nautiluss and LA’s Grenier. Western Canadian artists are also well-represented: festival organizer Librarian, Vancouver band Humans, the whole LiGHTA! crew (including Max Ulis, Taal Mala and HxdB), Evy Jane and Sanctums are among the highlights for that section.
