  • Hydroacoustics will take over the MS Stubnitz on May 6th. The decommissioned East German fishing boat, originally docked in London for Bloc's ill-fated 2012 event, has become a nightclub of sorts over the past year, playing host to artists like Marcel Fengler and Shackleton. For the May 6th bank holiday, it will serve as the location for a day-long electronic music event pitched to dancers and experimental music fans alike. The promoters have asked the artists they've booked "to step outside their usual styles" for Hydroacoustics, which means a number of the performers have created shows specifically for the mini-festival. Forward Strategy Group and TVO will be performing a new live work inspired by an "imagined history" of the MS Stubnitz, and the artist Emmanuel Spinelli's Aquarium installation—wherein a fish tank manipulates field recordings of water—will be on board. Roly Porter, formerly of Vex'd, will perform with the visual artist Rod Maclachlan, and PAN Records artist Helm will also play a live set. The industrial group Zoviet France, whose live performances are few and far between, cap the lineup. Tickets for Hydroacoustics are available here on RA.
