  • What The Festival 2013 will take place in Oregon from July 26th through July 28th. After debuting last year with a sold-out first run in the White River Canyon, the outdoor festival will move to a new (and apparently permanent) home at the Wolf Run Ranch, about two hours east of Portland. The festival's lineup this year consists of the same mishmash of styles that defined its first go, including straight-up house, dubstep, experimental acts and a handful of Oregon artists. Returning from last year are Claude VonStroke and Machinedrum, with the latter also playing a set with Jimmy Edgar as JETS. Canadian DJ A-Trak will headline, along with indie pop duo Purity Ring and hip-hop veteran RJD2. French youngster xxyyxx, Starkey, Vancouver's Cyril Hahn and Tokyo's Goth-Trad make up some of the festival's more bass-oriented names. In addition to the musical programming, there will be a splash pool, art galleries and installations, workshops, "chill zones" and a hookah lounge, as well as special "boutique camping" for those not wanting to bring their own tent.
