  • Denovali Swingfest has outlined its festival schedule for 2013. Swingfest, a project of German experimental label Denovali Records, began in Essen in 2007 as a three-day showcase for their own artists and like-minded acts from around the globe. Since the beginning, the festival has run without headliners, with each artist playing sets of equal length. Swingfest will run once again in Essen this fall, but this year, the organizers will present springtime editions in Berlin and London as well. They'll descend on the German capital first, with a lineup on April 5th at Friedrichshain's Radialsystem venue featuring the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Hidden Orchestra, Bersarin Quartett and Carlos Cipa. The festival moves to Passionskirche in Kreuzberg the next night, where the lineup includes Tim Hecker, Thomas Köner, Poppy Ackroyd and a collaborative performance from Ulrich Schnauss & Nat Urazmetova. After a few weeks off, Swingfest will arrive in London for two nights at the Scala. Andy Stott, Fennesz and Maybeshewill are some of the artists on hand for the festival's first night on April 20th. Thomas Köner, Poppy Ackroyd and Carlos Cipa will play the festival for a second time the next night, where they'll be joined by William Basinski, James Blackshaw, Greg Haines and Talvihorros.
