  • Ivan Smagghe and Pachanga Boys will arrive in Australia later this month to play gigs in Sydney and Melbourne. It's been more than seven years since Smagghe touched down on Australian shores—his only previous tour of the country. The Frenchman has considerably expanded his already vast portfolio between then and now, as a DJ, producer, promoter and label manager. His Kill The DJ imprint, originally a sub-label of Tigersushi, is still alive and well, while his studio partnerships with artists like Tim Paris (It's A Fine Line) and Roman Flugel (RMVN) have been released through Kompakt, Live at Robert Johnson and I'm A Cliche. Pachanga Boys, the collaborative force of Superpitcher and Rebolledo, is a comparatively new project, with the pair first joining up back in 2010. Their Hippie Dance imprint has so far resulted in three highly sought after 12-inches, one including the 15-minute odyssey "Time," as well as their debut album We Are Really Sorry which dropped in November of last year. While Superpitcher has played Australian shows before, this will be the duo's first appearance together here. The first show will be a double-headline affair on March 28th, featuring both Smagghe and the Pachanga Boys at Sydney's Abercrombie Hotel on March 28th, hosted by local promoters Picnic. On Saturday the 30th, Survivor! will put on a party at The Bottom End in Melbourne with the Pachangas only while, the following night, Electric Owl will take over Brown Alley with Smagghe and Superpitcher solo, with Leftroom producer Inxec joining the bill. From there, Superpitcher will head back to Sydney for another Picnic party on April 1st, this time in celebration of the company's fifth birthday at the recently opened Santa Barbara in Kings Cross. The show starts at 2 PM and also features Ken Cloud and Kali. Tickets to the Abercrombie, Brown Alley and Santa Barbara gigs are available here on RA.
