  • A new Sydney venue, The Soda Factory, will open its doors in Surry Hills this weekend with New York veteran DJ Spinna headlining the launch party. Located on Wentworth Ave, in the space which Tone and Mars Lounge both once occupied, the new '50s themed bar will be making use of its late night license to host a variety of musical events with both DJs and live acts throughout the week. Operated and booked by Graham Cordery of Experience Entertainment, who have toured artists like Joey Negro and Dimitri From Paris, and former MGM Distribution A&R head Michael Chase, the music policy will range from house, funk, disco and hip-hop to live bands, all accompanied by a retro-influenced food and cocktail menu. The bar's free public launch will take place this Saturday, February 22nd, with DJ Spinna playing his first Australian show in nearly ten years at a party that runs through until 5:00 AM. March 2nd sees the return of UK disco legend Greg Wilson, while Swedish producer Drop Out Orchestra will make his debut in the country on March 16th, while Grandmaster Flash will take to the decks on the 22nd.
