  • DMZ will celebrate its eighth birthday in London on March 1st. Founded by Mala, Coki and Loefah, DMZ is one of the longest-running dubstep parties. The London series has long been celebrated as a pivotal force in dubstep history, introducing the likes of Mary-Anne Hobbs to the genre. The parties don't happen as much as they used to, although the anniversary every March is generally a big occasion. This year, the birthday event will be headlined by all three founders playing back-to-back for three hours (with Mala and Coki billed together as Digital Mystikz). The flyer also promises "two very special guests from the extended DMZ family". Dubstep OG and Magnetic Man member Artwork, Tectonic chief Pinch, and Rinse resident Chef will round out the main room lineup. DMZ pillar Sgt. Pokes will handle the MC duties. The second room will feature some UK funky and garage-inspired flavours. Zed Bias gets top billing, along with Cluekid, rising London DJ Paleman, and Chestplate-signed dubstep producer Commodo, with more names reportedly to be announced soon. The party will take place at Great Suffolk Street Warehouse in South London.
