  • New York figures Jacques Renault and Nik Mercer have announced a new vinyl-only imprint, Goodnight Moon. The label will be limited to eight releases, each signifying a different phase of the moon. It will launch next month with a four-track EP from unheralded Glaswegian producer Almost. Following this they will put out 12-inches from Dutch duo 25 Places and Italian producer Marcoradi. Mercer and Renault currently run the Let's Play House label with Throne Of Blood chief James Friedman. Speaking to RA, Mercer said Goodnight Moon would allow the pair to "experiment with ideas we can't fold into Let's Play House". He added: "The eight records we're releasing are heavier, harder, and clubbier in nature. Barn-burners and brain-melters. It's sort of our contribution to―and extension of―the world of hand-stamped labels like Workshop, Editainment, and Tusk Wax. We wanted to create something that had a defined beginning, middle, and end... a sort of snapshot of 2013 and 2014."
