Droid Behavior makes BL__K NOISE with Vatican Shadow

- The LA techno collective is staging its sixth-annual production-oriented showcase to coincide with the annual NAMM music tech conference this month.
- BL__K NOISE, a showcase of electronic performances curated by techno collective Droid Behavior, will take place on January 25th in Los Angeles. This is the sixth year Droid Behavior has organized an event to coincide with NAMM, the annual music technology conference in Anaheim. (See RA's coverage of last year's edition of NAMM to get some idea of what happens there.) While it's not officially affiliated with NAMM, BL__K NOISE takes its inspiration from the sort of technology that's showcased there. As the promoters put it, "Expect a variety of modular synthesizers, drum machines, control voltage and random noise generation" to fill up the evening. They've also promised vinyl cutting demonstrations, and word is a number of the performances will be recorded and cut to lacquer over the course of the night. In terms of performers, Vatican Shadow—Hospital Productions boss Dominick Fernow's military-inspired techno project—gets top billing. He'll be joined by synthesizer master Alessandro Coritini, acclaimed producer and engineer Mark Verbos, sound designer Richard Devine and members of the Trash Audio and Capsule Labs collectives.
