  • A new audio-visual event series called Idle will begin in Brooklyn next Saturday. Idle is a joint collaboration between Big Up Magazine (originally of San Francisco but now based in New York) and the local Reconstrvct crew. According to the organizers, the bi-monthly series will "cater to both audio and visual aesthetic with equal care and attention." Taking place at a private location, the first Idle event will host the North American debuts of two experimental live acts: Darling Farah, the leftfield bass and techno producer who originally hails from Detroit, and London's Old Apparatus collective, which will appear as a four-person band to play an A/V set. DJ sets will come from Commodo, who like Old Apparatus has put out records on Deep Medi Musik, and the winner of the party's mix competition, Virginia selector Refugee. Heading up Idle 01's visual arts program is Ashes57—perhaps best known for her sleeve art on Loefah's Swamp81 imprint—and the party will also feature a "Cinematography in Music" showcase of critically acclaimed music videos. Idle 01 will start at 8:00 PM, and tickets won't be sold at the door (those who purchase pre-sales will get an email with location details). Tickets are available here on RA.
