- The new double-disc version of the 2001 album features remixes from DJ Koze, Matmos, Recloose and Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction.
Matthew Herbert will rerelease his 2001 album Bodily Functions next month on Accidental.
Bodily Functions was a breakthrough album for Herbert, and included early examples of what are now the main hallmarks of his music, from his sultry, downbeat style of house to his fetish for unconventional source material (as the title suggests, the LP relies mostly on sounds that came, in one way or another, from the human body). The new double-disc version features the original 14 songs plus a new batch of remixes, including cuts from Matmos, DJ Koze, Plaid, Recloose and former Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell. You can hear Dave Aju's remix of "Foreign Bodies" over on Pitchfork.
Word has it that's not the only thing Herbert has up his sleeve: in March of 2013 the UK producer will release a box set called Herbert Complete, which will bring together all his work from 1996 to 2006 with some unreleased material. Expect more info on that in the next few months.
