  • Subversive has two parties lined up for December. The Vancouver techno crew had a banner year in 2012, bringing international DJs like Function, Marcel Fengler and Peter Van Hoesen to the Pacific Northwest. They'll wrap up their year with two parties a week apart. The first will take place on December 1st at Subversive's usual home of Open Studios, featuring Spectral Sound founder Ryan Elliott. The Berlin-based artist is a resident at both the techno-heavy Berghain and house-oriented Panorama Bar, and is known to make his own club-tailored edits of many of the tracks he plays. For his upcoming show in Vancouver, he'll be supported by Subversive DJs Fox & Phillips, plus local DJ and Bonzai associate Nancy Dru. Exactly a week later on December 8th, Subversive will welcome DJ Rolando to the city for his first appearance in many years, this time at the W2 Media Cafe. The Underground Resistance member and Drexciya associate was a key figure in '90s Detroit techno and electro, and the mind behind the '99 hit "Knights of the Jaguar." Since then he's relocated to Edinburgh, and tends to plays with a more European techno style. Local support will come from local DJ Scott W. and Subversive member Miss Myte.
