  • Discos Capablanca returns from a hiatus this month with three releases due out in quick succession. The imprint, run by the man known as Capablanca, started in 2008 but has only released three records to date. Their last, from L.I.E.S. boss Ron Morelli and Steve Summers' Two Dogs in a House project, was supposed to kickstart a more regular release schedule, but when pressing delays forced the artist behind the label's next release to take it elsewhere, Discos Capablanca nearly folded. Capablanca decided to push forward nevertheless, and now has a trio of records slated for release. The label relaunches with a single-sided, handmade record from Minneapolis trio Food Pyramid. The release is limited to 100 copies available in black or colored vinyl, with a free digital download of the release included. (Have a listen to the track here. The label has also posted a video showing exactly what they mean by "handmade.") Next up is the label's fourth release in earnest, a 12-inch of edits from Lisbon artist CVLT. Food Pyramid will bookend the relaunch with the track "Knossos," which will be backed with a Gavin Russom remix. In terms of what's next for Discos Capablanca, Capablanca has this to say about the future: "I know I'm not Ron Morelli (who I deeply admire for his determination and dedication to his label) but I will keep on releasing more or less steadily for as long as music keeps inspiring me." Tracklists Food Pyramid - Untitled A1 Surprise Track CVLT - Edits A1 Desperate Flamingo B1 Mojo Working Food Pyramid - Knossos A1 Knossos (Gavin Russom Remix) B1 Knossos (Original) Discos Capablanca will release Untitled, Edits and Knossos in November and December of 2012.
