- Charanjit Singh, the man behind 1983's Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat, will make his UK debut next month with performances in London and Glasgow. Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat fit the blueprint for acid house—Singh arranged Indian classical music for Roland 303, 808 and Jupiter-8—a full five years before Phuture's "Acid Tracks," the record usually regarded as the genre's first side. After languishing in obscurity for almost 30 years, Ten Ragas was reissued by Bombay Connection in 2010, shaking up the storyline about acid's birth to such an extent that some assumed the record was just Aphex Twin pulling a fast one. The 78-year-old Singh, a veteran of '60s and '70s Bollywood soundtracks, will begin his short UK tour at the Shackleton Arms on Friday, November 2nd. He'll then head up to Glasgow to perform at La Cheetah Club the next night, with Auntie Flo and Esa providing support.
