All releases on the Trouw resident's new label will be completely free, beginning with his own EP, The Woods.
Patrice Baumel has launched a new label for free digital releases called EX.
The Trouw resident's new label is based on a few founding principles. He considers it "a big yes" to artistic freedom, "a closer, more direct relationships with my fans, dj colleagues and music professionals," maximum accessibility and "a level playing field with no preferential treatment for anyone." It's "a big no" to piracy, "cheesy superstar dj quotes to hype sales" and suboptimal sound quality ("I use world class mastering engineers so you don't embarrass yourself with weak-sounding music when spinning in a club").
EX's first release is The Woods, an extended cut taken from Baumel's new audiovisual live act. It's available now on his website as a WAV file or 320 kbps mp3. That's the official video below.
