  • Indie electronic artists David Best and Sammy Rubin have formed a duo called Omega Male, with a self-titled album due out in October. Both artists come from preexisting bands: Best is the frontman of UK outfit Fujiya & Miyagi, and Rubin is half of the Brooklyn duo Project Jenny, Project Jan. After meeting on tour in 2007, the pair started exchanging ideas via email, and eventually completed an album in two sessions—one in Brighton, one in Brooklyn. Best explains their band name this way: "An omega male could be viewed as the opposite of an alpha male... An omega male would probably not be a pilot or a CEO of a pharmaceutical company. He'd probably be more likely to be eating crisps. I like to think he watches the world in a detached fashion, as if he's watching television, and that no outside elements can influence his existence..."
