  • US festival giants Coachella have announced plans to stage a pair of events aboard a cruise ship this December. The first S.S. Coachella voyage will depart Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for a three-day tour of Bahamas on December 16th, before heading out to Jamaica for four days on December 19th. The vessel, the Celebrity Silhouette, is described as a 1000-foot 122,000-ton ship, with all the kinds of amenities and entertainment you'd expect from a high-end cruise liner. Tickets go sale this Saturday, 21st July at 10am PDT. Capacity is said to be in the region of 2,800. In terms of the line-up, Coachella's usual blend of indie and electronic remains firmly in place. Pulp and Hot Chip headline, James Murphy, DJ Harvey and The Rapture will DJ, while further sets come from Simian Mobile Disco, Grimes, Sleigh Bells and Gaslamp Killer. "Some sets will be longer than usual," Paul Tollett, Coachella president, told The New York Times. "We don’t have a curfew." The paper also reports that there'll be an on-board wine tasting session with James Murphy.
