  • Thomas Schumacher will make his way down to Australia this weekend to play two shows. The German native has covered plenty of ground in his career, which spans nearly two decades. Schumacher's own Spiel-Zeug Schallplatten imprint served as an outlet for his highly prolific production work, as well as releasing records by techno heavyweights like Umek and Stephan Bodzin. His collaborations with Bodzin as Elektrochemie on Get Physical, along with his solo productions, are among the best known records in his extensive catalogue, which is also populated by releases under a number of aliases and partnerships. While it's been a relatively quiet 12 months on the production front for Schumacher, the silence was broken last week with the release of an EP on his newly established Electric Ballroom imprint, which will also be the home of his forthcoming album, Rooms. This Australian trip will be a brief one, starting off with a party at Melbourne's OneSixOne on July 20th. The Fluidlife crew have enlisted locals Roland, Walter Juan and Matt Radovich as support. The following evening, Schumacher plays Chinese Laundry in Sydney alongside Whitecat, Ember and a number of others. Tickets to the Melbourne show can be picked up here on RA.
