  • Stuart Li, AKA Basic Soul Unit, will visit Australia this month to play shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The Toronto-based producer has been releasing music for the best part of a decade, hopping between a wide variety of labels that include Mule Electronic, Ostgut Ton and Versatile Records. The Basic Soul Unit sound is a rough-edged brand of vintage deep house, with Li generally taking a minimalist approach to the construction of his heavily analogue-sounding tracks, occasionally bordering on techno. He made his debut as a live act earlier this year, though he also remains in-demand as a DJ. Li's first show will be in Sydney this Saturday the 7th of July. The HAHA crew will be hosting him at the Marrickville Recreation Centre from 10:00 PM, where locals Simon Caldwell and Alphatown will be amongst the supports. Out of Focus are putting on the Melbourne show on July 20th at The Liberty Social with Sven Weisemann also heading the bill. Brisbane get their turn the following evening at Bar Soma for a White Rhino event. Tickets for the Sydney and Melbourne shows can be picked up here on RA.
