- Idoru will come out in July on Convex Industries.
Damon Kirkham will release his first album as Jon Convex this July on his own label, Convex Industries.
Kirkham is best known as one-half of Instra:mental, his duo with Alex Green, AKA Boddika. He started releasing records as Jon Convex last year, most of which followed in the same vein as his more recent work with Green: upfront, electro-tinged techno with roots in drum & bass and dubstep. According to the man himself, Idoru is no exception. "The album feels like a continuation of where I left of with Resolution: 653," he says. "I've taken what I learned and moulded it to fit the direction I'm taking with Idoru. I've taken all my influences over the past 20 odd years and crafted an album that should appeal to both home listening and DJ abuse."
In addition to the album itself, Kirkham has been working on a visually-enhanced live set, along with the artwork for the album and its two preceding EPs, Idoru #1 and #2 (due out on July 2nd and 30th, both limited to 300 copies). "Over the last year every minute has been spent working or thinking about the album."
Idoru features guest apparances from Breakage and Velvit (AKA D-Bridge). Idoru #1 includes a remix by G.Vump, AKA Brodinski and Guillaume.
