  • KMS Records will release a 25th anniversary box set compilation on June 25. The label was founded in 1987 by Detroit techno originator Kevin Saunderson, one of the city's "Belleville Three" along with Derrick May and Juan Atkins. KMS was the primary release platform for Saunderson's many projects and aliases, including Inner City, Kreem, and Reese. Over the course of its quarter-century lifetime, the label has released seminal techno and house tracks like Reese & Santonio's "The Sound," Inner City's "Big Fun," and Chez Damier's "Can You Feel It," and also saw the release of the History Elevate compilation which included remixes from artists like Luciano and Simian Mobile Disco, all of which are included here. The compilation, subtitled Elevate Your Mind, will be released as a four-CD boxset containing 54 tracks (also available digitally), plus as a vinyl set with half of those songs. In addition, six 12-inch "samplers" will be released, each with different selections from the box. Though some tracks are remastered, there will not be any new or previously unreleased material—the goal is to provide a comprehensive retrospective of KMS. Tracklist CD1 01.
