Distortion descends upon Copenhagen

- Chromatics and Mike Skinner will headline the five-day festival in the Danish city this summer.
- Copenhagen's annual Distortion Festival will take place this year from May 30th to June 3rd. Now entering its 15th year, Distortion is a street festival in Copenhagen that takes over the city itself and its venues for a five-day "celebration of Copenhagen nightlife." Heading up the bill this year are American disco act Chromatics and UK producer/MC/DJ Mike Skinner (known for his work as The Streets). Instead of a single festival-wide location, Distortion will take over the city streets and individual nightclub venues, and each day of the festival will take place in a different district of Copenhagen. Every day the free outdoor "street party" begins at 4:00 PM and ends at 10:00 PM, at which point the "night party" (or on Saturday, the "final party") starts. The exact venues and event lineups are yet to be announced, but early press materials promise "166+ dance floors in 166+ different locations." Also tapped to play Distortion this year is Kompakt boss Michael Mayer, who will play the Final Party as he has done in previous Distortion years, plus Danish DJ Trentemøller, Chicago's DJ Funk, American rapper Tyga and the UK's Andrew Weatherall, among over 100 other names.
