  • Nite Jewel will headline a krautrock-themed concert in Los Angeles on June 1st. The night, entitled Krautrock Classics: A Night of German Cosmic Music, is presented by LA's Dublab and the Goethe Institut. It will take place at the Ford Amphitheatre as the opening event to the outdoor venue's summer season. The artists confirmed purportedly "have a direct connection and a clear influence in their sound that is owed to German bands and solo musicians from the Krautrock period." The lineup consists mostly of local acts, headed up by Nite Jewel, who will perform Kraftwerk's Computer World in full with a cast of "friends" including Peanut Butter Wolf and Secret Circuit, while radio jock and DJ Carlos Niño will tackle the work of Popol Vuh with the help of Dexter Story, Diana Booker, Gaby Hernandez, GB, and Surya Botofasina. Improvisation-heavy duo Pharaohs will perform an excerpt from Manuel Gottsching's E2-E4 with help from Suzanne Kraft, Stellar Rahim, and a few others. The night will also see performances from Dntel, abstract hip-hop artist Daedelus, psych-rock band Sun Araw, synth trio ESP and White Magic.
