  • Justin Martin and Christian Martin will headline Bass Coast 2012 this August. The festival, located in a forest just north of Squamish (about an hour's drive from either Vancouver or the Whistler resort), will enter its third year with its biggest lineup yet. Bass Coast is more multi-genre and diverse than ever, featuring not only the Dirtybird brothers as headliners but also drum & bass producer dBridge, Leeds dubstep artist Jack Sparrow and Hotflush duo Sepalcure (as well as a solo set from member Machinedrum). The lineup is also heavy on BC locals, including names like Max Ulis, Prison Garde, Monolithium, Humans, Calamalka, HxdB, Evy Jane and Taal Mala. The lineup will be spread across three stages; the Main Stage, an installation designed by festival organizer Liz Thomson and Andor Tari, as well as Slay Bay, which as in past years will be designed and built by a selected artist—in this case, Whistler local Chili Thom. The third, Market Stage, will be surrounded by vendors selling food and merchandise, in addition to a general store. Situated at the Market stage is the "Bass School," which will offer workshops and lessons in electronic music production over the course of the festival. Other notable Bass Coast fixtures include a fashion show, yoga and capoeira sessions, and a music video competition as part of a miniature film festival of sorts. The 2012 edition of the festival will take place across the weekend of August 3rd-6th.
