  • Smallville Records will celebrate their seventh birthday at Ego in Hamburg on Friday, May 11th. With a signature sound that's sensitive and understated yet still club-friendly, Smallville is one of the most acclaimed house labels to come out of Hamburg. Their catalog has featured cult favorites like STL, Move D and Thomas Melchior, while also highlighting new artists like Moomin, who's become an internationally-known producer since releasing his debut album through the label last year. The party next month will feature label founders Dionne and Julius Steinhoff (who DJ and make tracks together as Smallpeople), plus a close friend of the family, Lawrence. The night's big guest is Ron Trent, the Chicago veteran behind timeless house classics like 1990's "Altered States." Running Back boss Gerd Janson will play as well.
