  • The first wave of names has been announced for Monegros 2012. Now in its 18th edition, the massive event is a longtime fixture of Europe's summer festival circuit. As in previous years, Monegros 2012 will host as many as 40,000 punters for a single 20-hour stretch, starting at 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 21st and wrapping up the next afternoon. The action is spread out across five stages. This year's headliners are The Prodigy, Paul Kalkbrenner and Wu Tang Clan (or to be specific, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, GZA with Street Life, Method Man and DJ Mathematics). DJs dominate the rest of the bill, especially big names like Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Loco Dice and Dubfire. Ben Sims, Marco Carola, Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati and a back-to-back set from The Advent and Industrialyzer further add to the festival's techno contingent. More acts will be announced over the next few months. To get an idea of the atmosphere at Monegros, have a look at the "aftermovie" from last year's festival below.
