  • Rude NY will launch a new monthly event series starting this month called Les Nuits de Montreal. The concept will aim to showcase DJs and live performers from Montreal, featuring a mixture of veterans like Vincent Lemieux and Akufen, as well as the "newer generation of Montreal's nightlife." The reason? The promoters behind the series cite their "love and admiration" for the city and call Montreal "North America's best kept secret... [with] one of the most talented local base of DJs of any city we had ever seen," noting its "vibrant musical pallette and all the wonderful people who inhabit it." The series' in-depth website will also feature detailed profiles for each artist, as well as live sets and short interviews. Each monthly installment will feature a selection of Montreal artists, "cultivators of the scene" who have helped to make Montreal what it is musically over the years, aiming for a "musical exchange" between the two cities. The first event will take place on April 14th at an intimate 150-capacity TBA location in Brooklyn, and will be headlined by MightyKat. The night will also see sets from Wagon Repair's Stephen Beaupré and Rude resident Nola. In addition to the regular monthly parties, "Rude Cruise" will take the series out onto the water for boat parties this summer.
