- Forever Underground looks back on 15 years of Nick Harris's house label.
After 15 years of operation, NRK Music will bow out next month with a farewell compilation: Forever Underground: Artifacts (1997 - 2012).
Nick Harris founded NRK in Bristol back in 1996. In the years since then, the label has released nearly 200 EPs, 45 full-lengths and a slew of mix CDs (including the Back in the Box, The Lab and Deep Sensations series). Artists who have appeared on NRK range from essential house artists like Kerri Chandler, Francois K and Joey Negro to contemporary acts like Loco Dice and Seth Troxler. No word on why the label is closing up shop, but according to a press release, Harris has a series of labels and other projects in the works, and will continue rolling out The Lab mix CDs, with the next due for release in June.
Forever Underground: Artifacts (1997 - 2012) devotes three CDs to NRK's sprawling catalog. The first present a slew of label classics in unmixed form, the third shows Harris mixing up some of his own favorites. The package will be available digitally and on CD in May.
