- The Vancouver-based label will release EPs from Calamalka, Max Ulis, and more.
Calamalka will release the Gooey EP this month on a new label called 10Pin.
Launched by Vancouver producer and DJ Max Ulis and Calgary promoter Lorne B, 10Pin has future releases planned from several different Western Canadian producers. Along with the launch of Hybridity Music, it's a busy time for Vancouver, with Ulis suggesting the label was necessary because "we got really irritated waiting for our friends' music to get signed, and we decided we should just get on that." The label's purview is, in tune with its signees, mostly dance-leaning electronic music, but Ulis insists that they "are pushing a side of dance music that isn't exactly 'commercial,'" with releases that reflect "a lot of different influences."
The first EP will also be Vancouver artist Calamalka's first release in seven years, and comes with a remix from Toronto's XI. Future releases will come from Max Ulis, Cedaa, HxdB, Self Evident, Taal Mala, Danny Corn, and more. The label will start out with digital-only releases, with eventual forays into the physical market.
