  • Just two days after Playground Weekender was officially cancelled due to serious flood warnings, the organisers have arranged for a number of the major artists to play across three new venues this weekend. The festival's promoters were forced to call the weekend off just 36 hours before it was due to commence, with emergency services advising of a serious risk of flooding around the area. The organisers have since managed to secure three venues around Sydney city, beginning with Bondi's Beach Road Hotel on Saturday from 1:00 PM. In one room will be disco veteran Greg Wilson, UK techno artist Kirk Degiorgio and The Orb's Alex Patterson, while the other room will feature bands Neon Indian, Black Lips and Seekae. Also on Saturday, the Crosstown Rebels' "Rebel Rave" has been shifted to the Metro Theatre, where label boss Damian Lazarus will be joined by Art Department and Danny Daze, along with special guest Lee Burridge and several other acts, kicking off at 9:00 PM. Sunday's festivities will be held at UNSW's Roundhouse and will bring together another half dozen acts from the festival's original lineup, including British rapper Roots Manuva and Bonobo's live band. Also making appearances will be James Lavelle of UNKLE and, as per Playground's original arrangements, a second performance by Greg Wilson. The Roundhouse gig will begin at 2:00 PM. All three events will be free for Playground Weekender ticket holders. On top of this, festival goers will also be able to retain their tickets after the weekend and obtain a refund as per the terms and conditions of purchase, or alternatively they will be able to hold onto their tickets which can be used to gain entry to Playground Weekender 2013. Promoters have encouraged fancy dress over both days, as is an annual tradition amongst the festival's attendees. The full announcement can be found on the Playground Weekender website.
