Movement 2012 reveals initial lineup

- Lil' Louis, Public Enemy and Jeff Mills will headline the festival in Detroit.
- Paxahau have revealed the initial lineup for Movement 2012, which will return to Detroit over Memorial Day weekend. It's Paxahau's seventh year at the helm of the festival, and as has been the case in recent years, they've chosen a rather diverse cast of headliners: top spots go to Chicago house icon Lil' Louis on Saturday, rap legends Public Enemy on Sunday (their first appearance at the festival) and Jeff Mills, AKA The Wizard, on Monday. More than 50 names have been announced altogether, including some of Detroit's finest: Juan Atkins, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Mike Huckaby, Stacey Pullen and Rick Wilhite, along with Kyle Hall, who will play back-to-back with Jay Daniel. Festival favorites like Claude VonStroke, Josh Wink, Mathew Jonson, dOP and Cassy will also be back in Hart Plaza, along with Loco Dice, Steve Bug and house veterans DJ Sneak and Derrick Carter. Brooklyn's Wolf + Lamb crew will be out in force: No Regular Play and Slow Hands have been confirmed in addition to the duo themselves. Other highlights include Radio Slave, Marco Carola, Michael Mayer and Nina Kraviz, plus rising stars like Maya Jane Coles, Danny Daze and Tale Of Us. There's more to the lineup than just house and techno. Lindstrom, Greg Wilson and Todd Terje are sure to offer up something a bit more disco-flavored, and Mark Farina will play a Mushroom Jazz set. Meanwhile, Mr. Oizo and Busy P will bring the electro-laced sounds of Ed Banger. Hart Plaza, the festival's home on the Detroit River since the first edition in 2000, will once again be the daytime center of the weekend. Then of course there's the diverse afterparty scene that spreads out around the city—details on that are still under wraps, so keep an eye out for announcements in the months ahead.
