  • Michael Rother will tour Australia next month with NEU! drummer Hans Lempe and original Harmonia member Dieter Moebius. Credited as one of the founding fathers of Krautrock (or kosmische), Rother had a brief stint as the guitarist in Kraftwerk before forming NEU! with Klaus Dinger in 1971. The band's output went on to influence a wide range of popular artists, as well as modern electronic music as a whole, while his subsequent projects Harmonia and Harmonia '76 (the latter including Brian Eno) cemented Rother as a luminary of the 1970s. He has remained active in the decades since, making music and touring, albeit irregularly, both on his own and with some of his past collaborators. The upcoming tour will see Rother, Mobius and Lampe performing past works by NEU! and Harmonia as well as various solo compositions. Brisbane will be the first stop, with the trio playing at The Zoo on March 15th. The following night they'll be on stage at Barrio, Hajek Plaza, as part of Adelaide Festival. From there it's up to Sydney on March 17th for a show at the Oxford Art Factory, followed by a Melbourne performance on Monday the 19th at The Corner Hotel.
