- LA experimental artist M. Geddes Gengras also lends a hand on RVNG Intl.'s upcoming album and film.
The next edition of RVNG Intl.'s FRKWYS series is due for release in April, and is made up of two parts: an album called ICON GIVE THANK and a video called ICON EYE.
RVNG Intl. describes the FRKWYS albums as "a music and film series pairing contemporary artists with those that may have preceded them." On the latest edition, LA experimental acts Sun Araw and M. Geddes Gengras team up with dub reggae pioneers The Congos. After putting together ideas for the record in LA, the two American artists traveled to St. Catherine, Jamaica, to spend ten days with The Congos recording ICON GIVE THANK. Meanwhile, a film crew captured the creative process and made it into RVNG Intl's first video feature, ICON EYE. Both will be available as one package, be it CD / DVD, LP / DVD or a "digital bundle." You can stream the track "Happy Song" right here, and watch a teaser for ICON EYE below.
