- EMI will release a two-disc collection looking back on the pop and avant-garde artist's three-decade career.
EMI has put together a two-disc collection of music by pop and avant-garde artist David Sylvian called Victim of the Stars, 1982-2011, due for release in February.
Sylvian got his start in Japan, a left-field glam rock back that was grouped in with the New Romantic movement in the early '80s. After Japan broke up he forged a long and prolific solo career, from his 1984 album Brilliant Trees to 2009's Manafon. He continued to blend elements of pop and experimental music, occasionally teaming up with like-minded artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto and Robert Fripp. Victim of the Stars draws from his many releases on Virgin, as well as later records on his own label, Samadhisound. A new track called "Where's Your Gravity?" is included as well.
