  • Kazu Makino, singer and guitarist of seminal indie rock outfit Blonde Redhead, has put together a benefit compilation for Japan called We Are the Works In Progress. The collection features previously unreleased tracks by an acclaimed cast of indie, electronic and avant-garde artists. Four Tet kicks the album off with a song called "Moma," which you can stream here. Karin Dreijer Andersson, of The Knife and Fever Ray, appears under her own name with "No Face," while Pantha Du Prince and John Roberts add some understated 4/4 beats to the release. On a more experimental tip, Ryuichi Sakamoto contributes a piece he made with David Sylvain, and American composer Terry Riley delivers "G Song." Blonde Readhead appear both on their own and with Brooklyn art-rockers Liars. Hotly tipped indie artists Deerhunter and John Maus make the cut as well. We Are the Works In Progress will be the debut release on Makino's new label, Asa Wa Kur (which translates to "Morning Will Come"). Proceeds will go to Japan Earthquake Relief Fund and Architecture For Humanity to assist the ongoing relief effort. Tracklist 01. Four Tet - Moma 02. Karin Dreijer Andersson - No Face 03.
