- The second album from Stefan Schwander's African drum project will come out in January on Italic.
Stefan Schwander will release a new album as Harmonious Thelonious called Listen in January.
Schwander is a Düsseldorf-based artist who's had his hand in a variety of projects since the early '90s, from groups like Pop Up (with Jörg Burger) to solo efforts as A Rocket in Dub, Repeat Orchestra, Rhythm Maker and Antonelli Electr. among others. Harmonious Thelonious is his most recent endeavor. Described by the artist himself as "American minimalism vs. African drumming vs. European sequencing," the project's sound is dense, percussive and hypnotic. Listen comes just over a year after the first Harmonious Thelonious album, fittingly titled Talking. As with that LP, it will see release on the Cologne label Italic.
