  • Mystery Plays Records have booked Jan Jelinek for an intimate gig in London this weekend. Described by Pitchfork as "one of the most inventive producers working in his field today," Jelinek has long been a favourite among fans of heady electronic music. As Farben, a project he began in the late '90s and has just recently revived, he helped shape the sound of microhouse with records on Klang Electronik. Meanwhile, he became a fixture of the esteemed experimental label ~scape, releasing ambient-leaning albums under his given name, beginning with the 2001 classic Loop-finding-jazz-records. Performances from Jelinek are few and far between; his appearance on Saturday will be his first in London this year. The event will take place Café Oto, a Dalston cafe that moonlights as an avant-garde music venue. It's hosted by Mystery Plays Records, a fledgling label run by the artist Inch-Time. Jelinek will play live, along with the artist AM/PM, and Inch-Time will DJ.
