- Cynosure's top dog is heading up a new downtempo trio with an album due out on Haunt.
Haunt Music is ready to release the first album by Blue Fields, an avant-garde project led by DJ and producer Mike Shannon.
The album is called Ghost Story and sees Shannon teamed up with two of house and techno's behind-the-scenes players. The first is Takeshi Nishimoto, a Japanese guitarist who is half of the duo I'm Not A Gun, next to John Tejada. The other is Fadila, a singer who has lent her voice to records by Losoul, Italoboyz and Shannon's 2010 single Under the Radar. As Blue Fields, the trio make a sultry and vaguely sinister blend of jazz, downtempo and left-field electronica. The album will be the first full-length from Haunt Music, a Berlin-based label whose concise catalog includes past 12-inches from Shannon and fellow Canadian producer Akufen (as Horror Inc.)
