- The Brainfeeder artist's next release is the first in a series of what he calls "mini collections of ideas."
Teebs will release a new full-length on Brainfeeder next week called Collections 01.
As the title suggests, Collections 01 is the first in a new series of releases by Teebs, an LA-based artist who debuted on Flying Lotus' label last year with Ardour. Though the style is not so far from what Teebs has done before (hip-hop rhythms with shoegazey trim), he intends for Collections to exist outside of his main release catalogue—in other words, he wants it to be seen as a collection of sketches rather than his next proper album.
"With this record I'm trying to imagine a side project or group of mine that just so happened to make the same exact music as I'm making now," he says. "These records are neither EPs or full albums. Just mini collections of ideas...I hope to release them randomly through my life as if they were paintings in a drawn out series."
Collections 01 features guest appearances from Rebekah Raff, a harpist that's worked with Flying Lotus in the past, and Brainfeeder artist Austin Peralta. You can download the second track, "Cook, Clean, Pay the Rent (New House Version)," right now over at Pitchfork
