- The Curse of Soft Rocks features all original productions from the Brighton edit masters.
Soft Rocks will release their second album, The Curse of Soft Rocks, next month on ESP Institute.
The Brighton four-piece have been around for years, making weird but sunny disco edits that reflect what they call "a relaxed attitude to copyright law," many of which came out on their own label, Soft Rocks Recordings. The Curse of Soft Rocks, however, features all original productions, which the group only began releasing recently. It strikes a similar chord to their edit work, exploring the gray area between left-field disco, new wave, dub and psychedelic rock, with occasional guest appearances from Permanent Vacation artist Kathy Diamond and post-punk vocalist Jorge Socarras. The album includes mostly previously unreleased tracks, plus Soft Rocks' two recent singles, "We Hunt Buffalo Now" and "Magic Milk." It comes less than a year after the group's last full-length, the edit-heavy Disco Powerplay.
