  • A new Berlin-based label called Vae Victis launches next month with an EP by Blawan and The Analogue Cops. Vae Victis is run by Alex Picone and Giulio Montanaro, two Italian artists who produce together as Raw People. According to Montanaro, the name (Latin for "Woe to the vanquished ones") hints at the philosophy behind the label. "It's a motto we think fits perfectly to music," he says, "which in our view is about everything but standing safe and still." The label aims to support new artists and projects with hybrid styles, especially those with a bit of a raw edge. This is clear to see in the first release, Cursory EP, a collaboration by hardware purists The Analogue Cops and bass crossover favorite Blawan, a trio that first appeared together earlier this year on Restoration Records. All of the records are recorded on tape. You can hear samples of Cursory EP on the label's official website. Looking forward, Vae Victis will release EPs by Raw People and Die Roh. Tracklist A1 Sickle A2 Aurum B1 Illy B2 Quarto Vae Victis will release Cursory EP in November 2011.
