  • Berghain will launch a new event series next month called ? (Not Equal). The series will explore the gray area between club music and the avant-garde—an objective that's well-suited to Berghain's crisp sound and ominous atmosphere. The bill for the opening night is dominated by two of techno's deepest and darkest labels: Modern Love and Blackest Ever Black. Andy Stott, Demdike Stare and Tropic of Cancer will play live, and Raime will DJ. Adding to the gloom are avant-bass duo Emptyset, Milton Bradley of Do Not Resist the Beat and ? resident Opium Hum. Even the date of the event is loaded with mystique: 11:00 PM on 11/11/11. ? is a party rather than a concert, meaning it will run until sometime on Saturday morning or afternoon. That same night, Radio Slave will be upstairs in Panorama Bar with 2000 and One and Midnight Operator, a new project by Mathew Jonson and Hrdvsion (AKA Nathan Jonson).
