  • The Red Bull Music Academy will land in Melbourne later this month. Recent years have seen RBMA visit Australia a number of times. This month's edition will feature the strongest contingent to have touched down in Australia so far for the academy, with Mike Huckaby, Deadbeat and Tim Exile each set to appear at a series of lectures, workshops and parties. Huckaby is no stranger to the workshop environment, having spent several years as the driving force behind Youthville, an after-school music program for kids in his hometown of Detroit. Deadbeat, on the other hand, is best known for the dub techno he's laid down for labels like Wagon Repair, Echochord and his own BLKRTZ, while Tim Exile has built a reputation based on experimentally-inclined downtempo productions released on Planet Mu and Warp Records. RBMA's upcoming Melbourne jaunt will take place on September 25th. As yet, no program for the lecture has been released, though it's been made known that the "party" will kick off at an early 2:00 PM at The Forum Theatre and go right through to 1 AM with performances from each of the visiting artists.
