Ben Sims will release a new album called Smoke & Mirrors this October on Drumcode.
Sims is a staple of the UK's techno scene; he's put out roughly 50 singles and EPs since the late '90s and today co-hosts London's Mashine party with Kirk Degiorgio. But despite his prolific studio habits, Smoke & Mirrors will be his first proper artist album. The release marks his continuing relationship with Adam Beyer's Drumcode imprint, on which he debuted last year with Hypnosis / Psychosis. Stylistically, Smoke & Mirrors shows Sims doing what he does best: crafting powerful techno tracks that range from dubby and atmospheric to warm and jacking. Guest appearances come from two respected house pioneers: Chicago's Tyree Cooper (of "Nuthin' Wrong" fame) and Detroit's Blake Baxter.
