  • This October, Matthew Herbert will release One Pig, the final part of his One trilogy. Originally scheduled for release in late 2010, One Pig follows the same concept of singularity that defined One One and One Club. The album focuses on a single pig, which Herbert followed from its birth on a farm in England to its eventual slaughter and finally its consumption. Herbert used samples of the pig exclusively as source material for the album, much like he did with Frankfurt venue Robert Johnson for One Club. The project hit a few snags along the way. First Herbert was unable to find a slaughterhouse that would let him record the pig's death—a major blow to his vision of the album. "It was the part I was looking forward to the least, but the part I felt was most pertinent in my understanding of this life," he wrote at the time. More recently, PETA chimed in to voice their disapproval, saying "No one with any true talent or creativity hurts animals to attract attention." Herbert has used a blog devoted to the project to chronicle these and other pig-related events, including its birth, death, and a video of it playing with its family just weeks before they were all sent to the slaughterhouse. Herbert will release One Pig through his own label, Accidental. Tracklist 01. August 2009 02. September 03. October 04. November 05. December 06. January 07. February 08. August 2010 09. May 2011 Accidental Records will release One Pig on October 10th, 2011.
