  • Just weeks after its final party, Maria am Ostbahnhof is ready to open its doors again, but only for a few months (probably), and under a new name: ADS. According to founder Benjamin Biel, Maria had scheduled its original closing date based on a lease signed in December of last year. But shortly after they announced details for the party, property developers replacing the club made it clear that another lease extension was possible. This put Maria's management in an awkward position: they had the opportunity to reopen, but had already committed to closing, and had nothing booked for the upcoming months. The solution Biel and co eventually found was to revive the club, but not as Maria. "Maria stands for 12 years of awesome lineups, crazy parties and the ongoing search of new styles of music," says Biel. "To make it work we need a minimum of six months of preparation. Even if we can continue, we need to work in a different way now, cause nobody nows how long this situation will last. Because of this irritating fact, we won't continue as Maria, as Maria stands for continuity." Much like the original name, ADS is a simple statement of location: An der Schilingbrücke. The newly christened club will open this weekend in style with Girl Toxic, a CSD party featuring a slew of lesbian DJs and rock bands. Throughout July the club will play host to Oliver Ho (AKA Raudive), Sinden and Housemeister among others.
